10 Semifinalists Named for Ben Hogan Award

Colonial Country Club, Friends of Golf (FOG) and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) have announced the 10 semifinalists for the Ben Hogan Award. The Hogan Award is considered the most prestigious award in men's college golf.

The group includes Washington senior Cheng-Tsung Pan along with two juniors and three sophomores that were selected. Pan has been named a semifinalist for the fourth consecutive year, becoming the first golfer in the award's history to earn that distinction.

Pan looks to become the third Husky in the past six years to win the award, joining Nick Taylor (2010) and Chris Williams (2013). Since the award criteria were revised for the 2001-02 season, no school has won the award more than twice.

The nine other semifinalists are Gavin Green (New Mexico), Beau Hossler (Texas), Kyle Jones (Baylor), Lee McCoy (Georgia), Maverick McNealy (Stanford), Jon Rahm (Arizona State), Ollie Schniederjans (Georgia Tech), Robby Shelton (Alabama) and Hunter Stewart (Vanderbilt).

Pan is enjoying a superb season that includes three wins to give him a Husky record seven for his career. His wins this season include the Amer Ari Invitational in Hawai'i, the Querencia Cabo Collegiate in Mexico and the Lampkin San Diego Classic. He also won a pair of gold medals at the Asian Games, playing for his native Taiwan back in September.

On Wednesday, May 6, the list of 10 semifinalists will be pared down to three finalists. The three finalists will attend a black-tie banquet at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, on Monday, May 18, where the winner will be crowned.
