Aiken Takes Africa Open

Thomas Aiken logged his third European Title after beating England's Oliver Fisher in a playoff to win the Africa Open at London Golf Club in East London, South Africa.

Aiken closed with a 4-under 67 to tie Fisher (69) in regulation at 20-under 264. The Johannesburg native then sank a 30-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole to become the 10th South African to win the last 13 events in their home country.

Aiken was thrilled to pull off the win in front of the hometown crowd.

"The South African fans have been unbelievable throughout my whole career and it's so nice to finally get one for your guys," the 30-year-old said. "You've got to think your way around this golf course. It's not just get up on every tee and hit driver.

"It's very much a strategic golf course and I always love coming back here. I've done well the last four years and it's so great to finally get this trophy under my belt."

Tied for third one stroke out of the playoff were England's David Horsey (65) and American John Hahn (68).

Sharing fifth at 266 were South Africans Jaco Van Zyl (65) and defending champion Darren Fichardt (66), England's Richard Bland (69) and third-round leader Emiliano Grillo of Argentina, who closed with a 73.
