Allen Rallies to Victory in AT&T Championship

Michael Allen rallied from a three-stroke deficit at the start of Sunday to edge 36-hole leader Marco Dawson and win the AT&T Championship. The $1.95 million, 54-hole Champions Tour event was held at the ATT Canyons Course at TPC San Antonio in Texas.

The 55-year-old Allen carded six birdies - including four on the back nine - to close with a 6-under 66 and finish at 15-under 201. With his seventh Champions Tour title and second victory of the year, Allen earned $292,500.

After carding two birdies and a pair of bogeys on the front nine, the 50-year-old Dawson tacked on three birdies on the first four holes of the inward half to stay atop the leaderboard. But the Germany-born American stumbled to two bogeys on the last three holes for a 71.

Woody Austin also shot a 71 to take third place at 12-under 204, while another stroke back were Tom Pernice Jr. (67) and Scott Hoch (70).

Bernhard Langer posted a 69 to tie for sixth at 206 with Jay Haas (71). With five titles this year on the over-50 circuit, Langer secured the Charles Schwab Cup title.

The season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship starts Thursday at the Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale. Fred Couples, who tied for 25th Sunday at 5-under 211, is the defending champion.

Sharing eighth at 207 were Jeff Maggert (68), Kirk Triplett (71), Fred Funk (70) and Wes Short Jr. (73). Rocco Mediate matched Allen's 66 for Sunday's low round, moving him into a tie for 12th with Mexico's Esteban Toledo (68).

Defending champion Kenny Perry tied for 19th at 211 with five others.
