Bad Weather Halts First Round of Legends of Golf

The first round of the Champions Tour's Big Cedar Lodge Legends of Golf suffered a four-hour delay after two rainstorms came through the site in Branson, Mo.

The 54-hole, $2.75 million event is a unique tournament played on two courses: the regulation-length, 18-hole Buffalo Ridge and par-3 Top of the Rock. Two of the rounds will be played at the par-3 layout.

Days 1 and 2 will comprise of 36 holes at two courses - one round at Buffalo Ridge and two rounds at the nine-hole Top of The Rock. At Buffalo Ridge, teams will play alternate-shot on the first nine holes, with the second nine at Buffalo Ridge a best ball.

At Top of the Rock, the same format will be played. The first round will be played as alternate shots, while the second round will be played as best ball.

As this story went to press, Billy Andrade and partner Tommy Armour III were at 9-under through 17 holes, while another stroke back was the duo of Fred Funk and Jeff Sluman.

The first group of the day included Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Lee Trevino and Mike Hill.
