Bradley to Replace McIlroy in 30th PGA Grand Slam of Golf

Keegan Bradley has been named to replace PGA champion Rory McIlroy in the PGA Grand Slam of Golf. The 30th edition of the event, which pits the year's four major winners, will be held October 22-24 at Port Royal Golf Course in Bermuda.

McIlroy had committed to compete in the BMW Masters, October 25-28, in Shanghai, China, prior to his victory in the 94th PGA Championship on August 12. The new European Tour event was added to the schedule in April.

So Bradley, who won the last Grand Slam of Golf following his victory in the 2011 PGA Championship, will be joined by Masters champion Bubba Watson, U.S. Open winner Webb Simpson and British Open champion Ernie Els.

It will be the first appearance for both Watson and Simpson, while Els will be making his fourth appearance in the season-ending event, which he won in 1997 and 2010.

Last year, Bradley, who tied for third in the recent PGA Championship at the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, S.C., won the 2011 PGA Grand Slam of Golf by a stroke over 2011 Masters champion Charl Schwartzel. McIlroy, the 2011 U.S. Open champion, finished third; and 2011 British Open champion Darren Clarke was fourth.

Port Royal Golf Course is a 6,842-yard, par-71 public course that opened in 1970. The PGA Grand Slam of Golf has a $1.35 million purse, with the winner receiving $600,000, second place $300,000, third place $250,000 and fourth place $200,000. The 36-hole event will be broadcast on TNT.
