Calc Grabs Second Champions Tour Title

Mark Calcavecchia fired a course record-tying 8-under 64 to win the Montreal Championship. The $1.8 million Champions Tour event began Friday at Richelieu Golf Club in Quebec, Canada.

The 52-year-old carded six birdies - including five on the front nine - and an eagle on the par-5 16th to finish the 54-hole tournament at 16-under 200, four strokes ahead of Brad Bryant (65) and five in front of first-round leader Russ Cochran (68) and 36-hole leader Bob Tway (70).

The victory was Calcavecchia's third in Canada; while a member of the PGA Tour he won the Greater Vancouver Open in 1997 and the 2005 Canadian Open. It was his second Champions Tour win - his first came in last year's Boeing Classic in Seattle, and was worth $270,000.

Jeff Rutledge of Victoria, B.C., closed with a 69 to finish at 3-under 213 and take low Canadian honors from Ontarian Rod Spittle, who shot a 76 and ended up at even-par 216.
