Compete Against Big-Name Players in Inaugural Patriot Golf Championship

The Folds of Honor organization has announced the inaugural Patriot Golf Championship. The national event will give golfers the opportunity to compete against big stars like Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Rickie Fowler, Paula Creamer and many more.

Starting May 1, golfers can register for the competition at www.patriotgolfchampionship.com with a $21 entry fee. After registering and challenging a professional golfer participating in the competition, golfers will play a round of golf on the course of their choice and post their net scores.

Maj. Dan Rooney, CEO, founder of the Folds of Honor, said of the competition: "Less than one half of 1 percent of Americans wake up every day to defend this great nation and protect our freedoms. As a golfer, you have the opportunity to say thank you and honor our military heroes by participating in the Patriot Golf Championship. You can play against the biggest stars in the game of golf. This is your call to duty."

Added Woods, "The game of golf has given so much to so many of us. The Patriot Golf Championship is an opportunity to use golf as a platform to honor our nation's heroes."

Golfers that post a net score lower than or ties the score of the professional will earn the title of Patriot Golf champion. The scores of the professional golfers participating in the Patriot Golf Championship will be revealed to the public during a live Memorial Day telecast at 2 p.m. CT on FOX Sports 1.

Featured professional golfers participating in the inaugural Patriot Golf Championship include:

• PGA Tour players: Woods, Mickelson, Fowler, Bubba Watson, Hunter Mahan, Matt Kuchar, Keegan Bradley, Gary Woodland and Zach Johnson.

• LPGA Tour players: Creamer, Lexi Thompson, Cheyenne Woods and Nancy Lopez.

• Champions Tour players: Tom Lehman, Craig Stadler, Ken Duke, Tom Pernice Jr. and FOX Sports golf analysts Corey Pavin and Brad Faxon.

At the time of registration, golfers can also make a donation to Folds of Honor and support its mission to provide educational scholarships to families of military men and women who have fallen or been disabled in combat while serving in the United States armed forces.

Competitors can play a round of golf at any course and post their net score to the event website before 1 p.m. CT on Memorial Day. The professionals in the field will play their Patriot Golf Championship rounds between May 1 and May 25. These scores will be revealed on Memorial Day during a live national telecast on Fox Sports 1 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. CT. The telecast will be hosted from the Patriot Golf Club, Folds of Honor's headquarters in Owasso, Okla.

Fowler said of his involvement: "I'm thrilled to continue my long-time support of Folds of Honor and Maj. Rooney by competing in The Patriot Golf Championship. Good luck, America!"

"Supporting the military, our nation's heroes, is near and dear to my heart. It is a privilege to stand with Folds of Honor and participate in the Patriot Golf Championship," said Creamer.
