Crowded at the Top of Tournament of Champions


Four players share the halfway lead in the winners-only Hyundai Tournament of Champions. The $5.7 million tournament started Friday at the par-73 Plantation Course at Kapalua in Maui and will have a Monday finish.

First-round leader Russell Henley followed up his opening 8-under 65 with a 70 to stay atop the leaderboard. The 25-year-old from Georgia, who qualified for the event after winning the Honda Classic last March, was joined at 11-under 135 by defending champion Zach Johnson (70), Jimmy Walker (68) and South Korean Sang-Moon Bae (69).

Only one stroke back through 36 holes in the no-cut tournament are Japan's Hideki Matsuyama (66) and Americans Charley Hoffman (66), Brendon Todd (67), Patrick Reed (69) and Robert Streb (69).

Trailing by two is Scott Stallings (70), while another shot back is Matt Kuchar (70). Australians Jason Day (69) and John Senden (71) share 12th at 7-under 139 with Americans Bubba Watson (69) and Ben Martin (72).

Brian Harman (70) and J.B. Holmes (71) are tied for 16th at 140, and another stroke back are Americans Ben Crane (67) and Ryan Moore (70), Aussies Geoff Ogilvy (69) and Matt Jones (72), South Korea's Seung-Yul Noh (70) and Colombia's Camilo Villegas (70).

Further down the leaderboard in a tie for 24th at 142 are Americans Billy Horshel, Hunter Mahan and Kevin Streelman, along with Aussie Steven Bowditch and Canada's Nick Taylor.
