DJ Takes Lead at Colonial

Dustin Johnson got off to a good start in the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial.

The 29-year-old South Carolinian fired a 5-under 65 to take the opening-round lead in the $6.4 million PGA Tour event that got underway Thursday at historic Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.

Johnson carded four birdies on the front nine and another on the back for a one-stroke lead over New Zealander Tim Wilkinson and Americans Hunter Mahan and Harris English.

Johnson, an eight-time Tour winner, is seeking his first victory since the WGC-HSBC Champions last November.

Among the players sitting two shots behind Johnson are this season's only three-time winner and FedEx Cup leader, Jimmy Walker, and Dallas native Jordan Spieth.

Adam Scott, who supplanted Tiger Woods as the No. 1 in the world on Monday, opened with a 1-over 71. Colonial defending champion Boo Weekley also shot 71.

The winner in last week's Byron Nelson Championship, Brendon Todd, was among a big group of players carding a 69.
