English & Kuchar Run Away with Franklin Templeton Shootout in Record-Setting Fashion


Harris English and Matt Kuchar closed with a 14-under 58 in Sunday's scramble format to stroll to victory in the Franklin Templeton Shootout. The two-man team event took place at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Fla.

English and Kuchar ended up at whopping 34-under par in the team event, with each taking home $385,000. The two established a new scoring record in the 54-hole Franklin Templeton Shootout.

Ending up a distant second at 27-under were Freddie Jacobson and Retief Goosen, who shot a 61 Sunday, while another stroke back were Englishmen Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood (59).

Chris DiMarco and Billy Horschel (60) finished at 24-under, and another stroke back were Shootout defending champions Sean O'Hair and Kenny Perry (60). Rory Sabbatini and Scott Verplank (61) took seventh at 22-under.

Rounding out the 12-team field were Charles Howell III and Justin Leonard (64) at 21-under; Jonas Blixt and tournament host Greg Norman (62), Jerry Kelly and Steve Stricker (61) and Canadians Graham DeLaet and Mike Weir (60) at 19-under; Jason Dufner and Dustin Johnson (61) at 18-under; and Mark Calcavecchia and Chad Campbell (63) at 15-under.
