Faldo Approves of Course at Westin Roco Ki Beach & Golf Resort

Three-time Masters champion Nick Faldo visited the Westin Roco Ki Beach & Golf Resort in August to evaluate the site for the new golf course at Westin Roco Ki Beach & Golf Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

Faldo's golf course firm, Faldo Design, is in the midst of crafting the 18-hole layout. The resort and course are expected to be completed in November 2006.

“I'm extremely excited about the design opportunities offered by the site at Roco Ki,” said Faldo. “Aesthetically speaking, this will be a highly memorable golfing experience as it is a truly stunning piece of land and the holes offer some breathtaking views. I think the layout will also stand out for its strategic qualities. Utilizing the wonderful topography, we have designed a real ‘thinking man's golf course.' Our layout at The Westin Roco Ki Beach & Golf Resort will be well-balanced and full of shot-making options, allowing players of every ability to enjoy a round of golf. I believe it will inspire, challenge and delight in equal measure.”

venue considerable variety for golf holes. These include spectacular cliff-side and ocean view holes set amid a tropical mangrove forest, as well as lake, marsh and lagoon water hazards throughout. The facility will be managed by Troon Golf.

The hotel will feature 315 guest accommodations (most with ocean views), including 20 spacious and air-conditioned Jungle Luxe Bungalows, and 60 two-bedroom luxury condo units.
