Felibert Continues to Impress in Arkansas LPGA Event

Veronica Felibert doesn't look like an LPGA Tour rookie. The former USC player followed up her opening 6-under 65 with a 66 Saturday to take a four-stroke lead heading into the final round of the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship. The 54-hole, $2 million LPGA Tour event started Friday at Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers, Ark.

Over two days Felibert, a native of Venezuela, has carded 12 birdies against only one bogey. She stands at 11-under 131, four shots ahead of Japan's Mika Miyazato (65) and South Korea's Inbee Park (68).

Sharing fourth at 136 are Brittany Lang - who carded the tournament's low round, an 8-under 63, Katie Futcher (67), Japan's Ai Miyazato (68 and no relation to Mika), Ryann O'Toole (68) and China's Shanshan Feng (70).

Posting a 65 to tie for ninth at 137 were Dewi Claire Schreefel of the Netherlands, American Gerina Piller (67), South Korea's So Yeon Ryu (67), Spain's Azahara Munoz (68), and Scotland's Catriona Matthew (68).

Karine Icher of France and South Korea's Mi Jung Hur began the second round two strokes behind Felibert, but they posted a 72 and a 74, respectively, to fall down the leaderboard.

The final-round cut was set at 1-over 143. Among those heading home were Cristie Kerr (144), Michelle Wie (146), and No. 1-ranked Yani Tseng, who had another disappointing performance with rounds of 73 and 74.

After opening with a 79, American Morgan Pressel withdrew before the start of the second round.
