Feng Rallies to Win Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia

Shanshan Feng closed with an 8-under 63 to sweep to victory in the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia. The $2 million event was held at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club.

Feng, a 25-year-old from China, carded six birdies and an eagle to finish at 18-under 266 over 72 holes, three strokes ahead of third-round leader Pornanong Phatlum, who closed with a 70.

"I like to come from behind," said Feng, who logged the fourth victory of her career and earned $300,000. "I had no pressure at all today. ... What I was doing was just to focus on every shot and just try to do my best and hope that putts can fall."

Of her eagle on the par-5 16th, Feng said, "I hit the 3-wood with like a smooth swing. Then I was hoping to get a good bounce, which I did. It reminded me kind of like (the) 18th hole (at) Reignwood (in China) last year. Same club. It's the magic 3-wood again. I made an eagle again. I think that was pretty important for my win."

Ending up four strokes back were Sweden's Pernilla Lindberg, who matched Feng for Sunday's low round of 63, and South Koreans Chella Choi (67) and So Yeon Ryu (67).

Two more Koreans - Na Yeon Choi (67) and Ilhee Lee (68) - took sixth and seventh, respectively, while tied for eighth at 273 were Germany's Caroline Masson (68), Koreans Sun Young Yoo (68) and Mi Hyang Lee (68), and New Zealand's Lydia Ko (70).

Ko had a chance to supplant Stacy Lewis as the top-ranked player in women's golf, but needed a victory this week and Lewis to finish 12th or worse. Lewis had a 69 and tied for 21st at 277 with three others.
