Feng Wins in Home Country

Shanshan Feng closed with a 5-under 68 to win the Reignwood LPGA Classic. The $1.8 million event took place in smog-filled Beijing

The 24-year-Feng carded four birdies and a bogey before reaching the par-5 18th hole. The native of China went out with a bang, hitting the pin with her approach then making the eagle putt to finish at 26-under 266 and edge American Stacy Lewis by a shot. Lewis birdied the last to also close with a 68.

Lewis birdied six holes, with her only dropped shot of the 72-hole tournament coming on the par-4 14th hole on Sunday.

"I would say I'm as happy as when I won last year," Feng said. "It was our first time in Beijing, the tournament sponsor is also my sponsor. So I really wanted to do well to make them look good. I also broke my lowest score for four rounds, and gave it my best."

For the second day in a row Beijing's notorious pollution plagued the tournament. There was nearly a three-hour smog delay Sunday. Germany's Sandra Gal was one of several players wearing surgical-style masks.

The U.S. Embassy in Beijing issued a warning that hazardous air quality notifying American citizens should "avoid all physical activities outdoors."

No. 1-ranked Inbee Park shot a 68 top end up in solo third at 21-under 271, while Karrie Webb closed with a 67 to end up at 272. South Korea's Na Yeon Choi had a 69 to take sixth at 276.

Jessica Korda, who led through 36 holes, closed with rounds of 76 and 74 on the weekend to end up tied for 15th at 10-under 282.

Feng's win, the second of her career following her first in last year's LPGA Championship, was worth $270,000. Lewis settled for $165,043.
