Feng Wins with Ease in Dubai

China's Shanshan Feng carded her four straight round in the 60s for a wire-to-wire victory in the Dubai Ladies Masters.

The 23-year-old closed with a 3-under 69 to finish at 21-under 267, five strokes ahead of The Netherlands' Dewi Claire Schreefel in the Ladies European Tour event played on the Majlis course at Emirates Golf Club.

In the final round Feng posted two birdies, an eagle and a bogey in the tournament that had a Wednesday start. She just focused on her own game and not much else Saturday. "I didn't look at the leaderboard until 18, so I had no idea how everyone else was doing. But I'm very happy," said Feng.

"I wanted a top-five finish this week and I did even better than that. I played solid all week and my putting was the key."

Her victory in Dubai was the sixth worldwide - including the U.S., Japan and the Middle East - for Feng in 2012. In June she became the first Chinese player to win a major with her title in the LPGA Championship.

Schreefel, who attended college in the States at USC, was just happy to stay with eyeshot of the winner. "This second place almost feels like a victory since she (Feng) had already run away with it with her first two round. I may not have won, but I am very pleased with my game, which was just solid," said Schreefel, who set a new course with a 63 on Friday.

Tied for third were Becky Brewerton (65) of Wales and Caroline Masson (71). Masson needed to finish second to overtake Spain's Carlota Ciganda and win the Order of Merit. But a triple-bogey on the 12th hole ended the German's hopes. "I gave it my best shot, but it was just not good enough," Masson said.

Ciganda became the first player since Laura Davies in 1985 to win the LET's money title and Rookie of the Year award in the same year. "It ends an unbelievable season," said Ciganda, who had a 68 to finish in a tie for 10th at 279. "I'm very proud."

Among those sharing 10th with Ciganda was defending champion Lexi Thompson, who shot a 70 Saturday. Michelle Wie closed with a 69 to end up in 19th at 282.
