First Round at Open Completed; No Change at the Top

The weather-delayed first round of the U.S. Open was finally completed Friday morning. There was no change at the top of the leaderboard.

Phil Mickelson came in as the official first-round leader after posting a 3-under 67. Mickelson was the overnight clubhouse leader after many players hadn't completed their opening rounds due to two weather delays Thursday.

Luke Donald was at 4-under before leaving the course Thursday evening. When the Englishman returned Friday morning he bogeyed two of his remaining five holes for a 68. Also shooting 68 was Australian Matthew Goggin.

The only other players to post under-par first rounds - both 69s on the par-70 East Course at Merion Golf Club - were Belgium's Nicolas Colsaerts and Scotland's Russell Knox.

The marquee pairing of the top-three-ranked players in the world - Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Adam Scott, respectively - also finished their opening rounds.

Woods carded a 73 that included six bogeys and three birdies. McIlroy also shot a 73 with five bogeys and two birdies, while Masters' champion Scott polished off a 72.

The trio is paired again for Friday's second round.
