Four Set Pace on Champions Tour

There's a four-way tie heading into Sunday's final round of the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic. The $1.6 million, 54-hole Champions Tour event began Friday at the Fallen Oak course in Biloxi, Miss.

Sharing the leaderboard's top spot at 8-under 136 are Germany's Bernhard Langer (65), England's Roger Chapman (67) and Americans Joe Daley (66) and Corey Pavin (67). Chapman, Pavin, Hal Sutton and Steve Elkington held the 18-hole lead.

Tied for fifth at 137 are Mexico's Esteban Toledo (65), Tom Pernice, Jr. (65) and Gene Sauers (66). Sharing eighth another stroke back are defending champion Fred Couples (66), Duffy Waldorf (67), Australia's Peter Senior (67) and Michael Allen (68).

Taiwan's Chien Soon Lu (68), Olin Browne (69) and Andrew Magee (68) are in 12th at 139. Elkington, a Champions Tour rookie, carded a 1-under 71 Saturday and now shares 15th with Dan Forsman (68), Jay Don Blake (66), David Eger (69) and Mark O'Meara (70).

Sutton posted an even-par 72 to drop into a tie for 20th at 3-under 141 with six others, including David Frost (71), the winner of the senior circuit's previous tournament, last week's Toshiba Classic.

If the 55-year-old Langer emerges as the victor Sunday, it will be his 18th title on the Champions Tour.
