Four Tied for Top Spot at Colonial

There are four players sharing the third-round lead in the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. The $6.4 million PGA Tour event is taking place at historic Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.

Japan's Hideki Matsuyama vaulted to the top of the leaderboard following a 6-under 64. He now stands at 7-under 203 at the par-70 venue, the same 54-hole total as Americans David Toms (65), Chad Campbell (68) and Chris Stroud (69).

Saturday's third round was delayed by a threat of thunderstorms in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, but all the players completed their rounds.

Matsuyama posted three birdies on each his front and back nines during his flawless outing. The 22-year-old, a five-time winner on the Japan Golf Tour, was happy about his round but knows there's a long way to go before the tightly-fought tournament is settled. "It'll take at least 10-under," he predicted of the winning score.

Tied for fifth at 6-under are Americans Kevin Chappell, who carded Saturday's low round - a 7-under 63, Brian Harman (68), Chris Kirk (67) and Jimmy Walker (69), South African Tim Clark (69) and Australian Marc Leishman (67)

Only two behind the leaders at 5-under are Aussies Adam Scott (66) and John Senden (66), Americans Brendon Todd (67), Jason Dufner (69) and Bo Van Pelt (70), Sweden's Freddie Jacobson (67) and England's Brian Davis (70).

Scott, who replaced Tiger Woods as the No. 1-ranked player in golf last Monday, got off to a great start with four birdies through his first eight holes. But the 33-year-old from Adelaide, who won the 2013 Masters, parred out from there.

"There was an opportunity for a low one and I got off to the good start, I just couldn't keep it going the whole way," Scott said. "I'm a little disappointed not to be a couple [strokes] better than I was today."

Sharing 18th at 4-under are William McGirt, Robert Allenby, Ryan Palmer, Nicholas Thompson, Tim Wilkinson, Dallas native Jordan Spieth and Aaron Baddeley.

Brice Garnett, who took the halfway lead following rounds of 67 and 66, stumbled to a 74 Saturday to drop into a tie for 25th at 3-under 207 with 11 others.
