Fritsch Wins Web.com Tour Qualifying Going Away

Brad Fritsch finished atop the grueling six-round Web.com Tour Q-School on Tuesday with a closing 5-under 66 and a 108-hole total of 27-under 402 at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

The 37-year-old born in Edmonton, Alberta, won the event by seven strokes, the second-biggest margin in the last 25 years. In addition to earning full status on the developmental circuit of the PGA Tour, he took home $25,000.

"It just kind of frees me up," Fritsch told Ottawa Citizen reporter Gord Holder by telephone. "You're guaranteed all the events and that's the best possible result you could have."

Fritsch played on the PGA tour the past two seasons but his 2014 total of $568,391in earnings left him 140th on the money list and 151st in FedEx Cup points, both outside the top-125 cut-off to retain privileges for the new wraparound season now underway.

Andrew Landry of the U.S. finished in second.

The top-10 players in qualifying are fully exempt for the first 12 Web.com Tour events in 2015. The group that finished between 11th and 45th place (including ties) are exempt for up to nine events. The top 25 at the end of the Web.com season will qualify for next year's PGA Tour season.
