Frost Still Toasty in Champions Tour Season Opener

David Frost followed up his opening 7-under 65 with another 65 to go up by two strokes through 36 holes of the season opener on the Champions Tour, the $1.8 million Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalia in Kona, Hawaii.

The 53-year-old South African posted seven birdies - including five in his first six holes on the back nine, to reach 14-under 130, two strokes ahead of John Cook (two consecutive 66s) and four in front of Kirk Triplett (66, 68).

Cook realizes he's chasing one hot golfer. "Frosty is going low, I know that," he told reporters.

Five back with one round to go in the 54-hole event are Fred Couples and Tom Kite, who both posted 69s, while another stroke back after a 68 is Bernhard Langer.

Jay Haas (69), Steve Elkington (69), Russ Cochran (70) and Tom Lehman (71) are tied for seventh at 7-under 137.
