Golf Doctor Moving Studio to Old Corkscrew

January 28, 2008. Mike Calbot, more commonly known as the Golf Doctor, is relocating his International Golf Studio and Triad Golf Schools to Old Corkscrew Golf Club, a freestanding golf facility located on Corkscrew Road in Estero, Fla.

When Calbot established his golf studio and school in Southwest Florida in 1978, he was the first professional to introduce the use of video in golf instruction to the area. Calbot has thousands of clients from around the world, including touring professionals such as Nolan Henke and Terri Jo Myers. He is widely known for offering golf tips on WINK-TV for more than 25 years. Calbot has more than 38 years of teaching experience. Early in his golf career he traveled the world as a touring professional and continues to be in demand as a golf trick shot artist. He has produced a golf instruction video called "Learning Golf," and has authored numerous articles about golf and golf instruction in regional and national magazines.

Old Corkscrew is an 18-hole golf facility designed by Jack Nicklaus. It's located on a wooded and secluded 275-acre site on Corkscrew Road, 7 miles east of I-75. The diverse site contains mature oak, pine and cypress trees, and a natural flow-way through the center of the property. The par-72 track offers vistas of lakes and preserves. The course has no surrounding residential development, which results in a serene setting. The facility is the only Signature Nicklaus Design non-residential course in Southwest Florida.

Calbot welcomes the opportunity to expand his golf studio and schools at Old Corkscrew. "It's a very special place with its Jack Nicklaus Signature design," he said. "I am looking forward to working with the club's members and to introducing my clients to this extraordinary and unique golf course."

"Mike brings an extensive knowledge of golf instruction to Old Corkscrew," said Mark Iwinski, manager of golf operations for Old Corkscrew Golf Club. "We are thrilled to have him available for lessons and he is going to be a great asset to our members."
