'Great White Shark' to Serve as Golf Advisor for China

Greg Norman has been appointed as an advisory coach by the China Golf Association. The move is to help improve China's global standing in golf in advance of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, where golf will return as a medal sport for the first time since 1904.

According to The Associated Press, Norman will assist in developing a comprehensive plan of instruction, nutrition, mental training and course management, in addition to relating his own tournament experience.

Norman will hire two assistant coaches to work with the association's staff and help identify China's best Olympic prospects. He will make regular visits to the national team's training facility in Nanshan prior to the 2016 Olympics.

"I've always advocated for the growth and accessibility of the game and look forward to working with the CGS to bring my experience and longtime support of junior golf to China," Norman told the AP.

"My role is not only to help prepare the China national team for international competition, but to also teach social skills, etiquette, honesty and self-confidence in giving young Chinese golfers a pathway to their future as adults."
