Hearn Up by Two in Canadian Open


David Hearn is in position to become the first Canadian to win his home country's national golf championship since Pat Fletcher in 1954.

Hearn, a 36-year-old native of Branford, Ontario, followed up his 8-under 64 Friday with a 68 to reach 15-under 201, two strokes ahead of Bubba Watson and Jason Day in the RBC Canadian Open at Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ontario.

Two-time Masters' champion Watson posted a 68 and Australia's Day a 69.

Michael Putnam and Brooks Koepka each carded 68s to share fourth at 204, while another stroke back are Colombian Camilo Villegas (67), Jim Furyk (68), Argentina's Emiliano Grillo (69), Johnson Wagner (72) and 36-hole leader Chad Campbell.

Campbell vaulted to the top of the leaderboard following a 63 Friday, but stumbled to a 75 Saturday. The 41-year-old Texan is seeking his first Tour title since the 2007 Viking Classic.

Defending champion Tim Clark of South Africa carded a 72 and enters Sunday's final round tied for 48th at 5-under 211.

Making his debut as a professional, Ollie Schniederjans carded a 66 to rise into a tie for 11th at 10 under. The former Georgia Tech player tied for 12th in last week's Open Championship at St. Andrews.
