Jacobsen Hardy Promotes VanHoose to Senior VP

January 13, 2006. Jacobsen Hardy Golf Course Design has announced the promotion of Rex VanHoose to senior vice president/managing architect.

Jacobsen Hardy Golf Course Design is the architectural partnership of PGA Tour and course development veterans Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy. Starting with its design of The Oregon Golf Club in 1992, Jacobsen Hardy has produced a succession of award-winning layouts including Moorpark Country Club just north of Los Angeles - named to Golf Magazine's "Top 10 New Courses You Can Play" for 2003; Houston's Redstone Golf Club, host of the PGA Tour's Shell Houston Open from 2003-05; and Hammock Bay Golf & Country Club in Naples, Fla., listed among Travel+Leisiure Golf's Top 10 New Private Clubs for 2004.

VanHoose was integral in the design and construction of all these projects, in addition to Jacobsen Hardy's feted renovation work at Salishan Golf Links in Gleneden Beach, Ore., and Galveston Country Club on the Texas Gulf Coast.

In his new position, VanHoose will report directly to both Jacobsen and Hardy while directing all of the firm's projects now in design and construction. Those jobs under construction include The Rope Rider GC at Suncadia Resort in Roslyn, Wash., The Golf Club at Gray's Crossing in Truckee, Calif., and Brasada Canyons GC in Redmond, Ore.

VanHoose joined the Jacobsen Hardy team in 2001 after spending seven years working in the golf course development business, first as a project superintendent for Rausch Construction, then as a design associate for both Keith Foster Golf Course Design and Lohmann Golf Designs. He's a graduate of Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Landscape Architecture (1995). In Lubbock, he was awarded a Mobile Land Development Scholarship which enabled his study of golf course design through the creation and completion of a series of special projects curricula in course architecture.

"Rex is one of course design's bright, young talents and he combines that artistic capability with construction know-how and a superb business sense," Jacobsen says. "All these qualities have helped us grow Jacobsen Hardy to where it is today, and we've never been so busy. In his new position, Rex will manage our current project load and direct future growth."
