Jamieson Jumps to Big Lead in Volvo Golf Champions

While the rest of the field struggled in the third round of the Volvo Golf Champions - a European Tour event reserved only for winners from the previous year, Scott Jamieson held steady. The Scot fired a 4-under 68 at Durban Country Club in Durban, South Africa, to reach 15-under 201.

The 29-year-old enjoys a five-stroke lead over first-round leader Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand (73), Julien Quesne of France (67) and 36-hole pacesetter, South Africa's Louis Oosthuizen, who after posting a 64 Friday skyrocketed to a 74 in the third round.

After opening with a 69 and 64, Jamieson carded five birdies, an eagle on the par-5 eighth hole and three bogeys Saturday. The Glasgow native is in the tournament thanks to his win in the Nelson Mandela Championship - also in Durban - last month.

Despite his sizable lead, Jamieson wasn't overly pleased with his play in the third round, yet is happy with where he stands on the leaderboard. "I didn't play as well as I did the first two days, especially (Friday) from tee to green," he said.

"But I managed to score well, which is the main thing. I'm delighted to be in the position I'm in . . . There's still a long way to go, so I will just stick to my game plan as best I can. We'll see if I'm here tomorrow night."

Seven shots behind Jamieson are Ireland's Padraig Harrington (67) and Italy's Francesco Molinari (68), while tied for seventh at 209 are England's Danny Willett (70), Scotsman Paul Lawrie (70) and Irishman Shane Lowry (70).
