Knox Shoots 59 on Web.com Tour

Russell Knox became the second player in two weeks to fire a 59 on the Web.com Tour. The 28-year-old Scot carded that magical number in the second round of the Albertsons Boise Open at the par-71 Hillcrest Country Club in Boise, Idaho.

Starting on the back nine, Knox opened with three birdies and an eagle on the par-5 16th hole, making the turn in 5-under 30. On his home half, he reeled off five more birdies and his second eagle on the par-5 second for a 29.

Knox became the fifth player in the 24-year history of the PGA Tour's developmental circuit to shoot 59. His Friday score broke Hillcrest's course record by two strokes.

Just two weeks ago, Will Wilcox closed with a 59 in the Utah Championship at the par-70 Willow Creek Country Club in Sandy. Wilcox finished that tournament in third place at 21-under.

After opening with a 69, Knox's second-round score in Idaho vaulted him into the lead at 14-under 128, a stroke ahead of three players. Knox had a chance to go even lower, but parred the final two holes.
