Koepka Up Two in Frys.com Open

Brooks Koepka followed up his opening 4-under 67 with a 64 Friday to take a one-stroke lead through 36 holes of the Frys.com Open. The $5 million event, the season opener on the 2013-14 PGA Tour season, began Thursday at CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin, Calif.

Koepka, a 23-year-old from Florida, posted eight birdies, an eagle on the par-5 15th and two bogeys to reach 11-under 131, a shot ahead of Jason Kokrak, who had a 65.

"There's no pressure. Just enjoying it right now," said Koepka, who plays overseas and received a sponsor's exemption for the tournament. "Looking forward to the weekend. I don't see any pressure. Yeah, it would be big. Obviously, be nice to win and get status over here. But you play good, everything kind of takes care of itself."

Two back are Robert Garrigus (63) and Jim Herman (66), while three behind is Camilo Villegas (66).

Andres Gonzales carded Friday's low round, a 9-under 62 that took the long-hitter from Olympia, Wash., into a share of sixth at 136.

After opening with a 64, first-round leader Jeff Overton slipped down the leaderboard after carding a 72.

The weekend cut was set at even-par 142. Defending champion Jonas Blixt qualified for the final two rounds by a stroke after carding rounds of 69 and 72.
