Kuchar Leads Weather-Delayed Colonial

When Friday's second storm came through Colonial Country Club to halt second-round play, Matt Kuchar found his name atop the leaderboard of the $6.4 million Crowne Plaza Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas.

Though Kuchar stands at 10-under par, he still needs to finish the last four holes. He hit his tee shot on the par-3 16th right before the stoppage at 7:38 p.m. Through 15 holes, the 34-year-old carded five birdies.

Graham DeLaet completed his round and is at 9-under 131 through 36 holes. The Canadian followed up his opening 6-under 64 with a 67.

Josh Teater (67), Dallas native Jordan Spieth (67) and Steve Flesch (64) are at 8-under 132. Ryan Palmer, the first-round leader who opened with a 62, is also at 8-under but must play six holes for an official score.

Flesch, the 2004 Colonial champion - one of the left-hander's four Tour victories, matched the low round of the day for his first made-cut since late 2011. The 46-year-old Kentucky native has suffered from a problematic shoulder for the past two years and hasn't visited the winner's circle since the 2007 Turning Stone Resort Championship. He sounded relieved Friday afternoon.

"Today was a big day for me," Flesch told PGATour.com. "If I would have come out and shot a couple over par and missed another cut, it would have been a tough rest of 2013."

Play was initially suspended at 1:18 p.m. ET when lightning and thunderstorms brought the players to the clubhouse. The players were expected back on the course at 2:45 p.m., but the horn blew at 2:25, forcing them to stay indoors for an hour longer than initially predicted.

Many players must complete their second rounds Saturday morning before the start of the third round. The 54 who hadn't finished will resume at 8:15 a.m. ET.

As a result, the cut - projected overnight at 1-under 139 on the par-70 course - cannot be made until the conclusion of the second round.

Scattered thunderstorms are forecast for Saturday, with Sunday looking partly cloudy and in the mid-80s.
