Montgomerie Course Underway in the Dominican Republic

Colin Montgomerie, one of the stars of the European Tour, has designed a golf course at a new resort in Punta Perla, Dominican Republic. Work is now underway on “Monty’s” layout, one of three courses planned for the facility, which will also offer townhouses, beach apartments and multi-million dollar mansions.

Montgomerie crafted the course in conjunction with European Golf Design of Berkshire, England. The joint-venture is also responsible for several other courses in the Caribbean, including Black Bess and Sugar Hill in Barbados, Tryall in Jamaica and Kittitian Heights in St. Kitts.

The first course is slated to be completed in mid-2008. Once open for play, the layout is expected to increase the influx of visitors to the area and boost off-plan property prices in Punta Perla by some 25 percent.
