Montgomerie Signature Course Planned for Bahrain

A new joint venture, BGD – Nass, has been awarded the contract to build a new Colin Montgomerie Signature golf course at the Riffa Views project in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The joint venture involving Scotland-based Braemar Golf Developments (BGD) and Bahrain-based Nass Contracting Co. WLL brings together companies with different experience and skills, but in combination should build a top-flight golf course.

The award was made recently by Richard Browning, the CEO of Riffa Golf & Residential Development Company. “The partnership brings a professional caliber that is essential for the quality demanded by the Riffa Views project,” said Browning. “BGD – Nass demonstrated the essential mix of large scale construction experience coupled with the vital site-specific technical golf knowledge and a vital understanding of quality the Colin Montgomerie-designed golf course demands.”

He added, “The golf course is a vital asset to this ground-breaking residential development in Bahrain which will feature 900 residential homes as well as Boris Becker Tennis Academy, International School, country Club and hotel.”

David Dean, principal of BGD, and David Anthony, General Manager of Nass Contracting, attended the award-signing. Both said they were delighted to win the contract and were looking forward to delivering a world-class golf course to the client in 2008.

Dean commented, “The turnkey construction ability of Nass in the Gulf, in conjunction with the technical golf course management and construction skills specific to the region, accumulated by BGD over a number of years working in the Middle East, have been key to the success of the bid and we look forward to looking for other golf course two of three construction opportunities that could benefit from the combined skills and experience of BGD – Nass.”
