Moore Nails Down Second Career Victory in Timberlake Tournament


Ryan Moore shot a 5-under 66 to win the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. The $4.5 million PGA Tour event began Thursday at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas.

Moore posted four birdies and two bogeys on the front nine, but settled down with three birdies on the back to end up at 24-under 260, one stroke ahead of Brendon de Jonge (67) and four clear of Jonas Blixt (70). The three players began the final round tied for the lead at 19-under 194.

The victory, worth $810,000, was the second of Moore's career. The first title for the Puyallup, Wash., native, who played college golf at UNLV, came in the 2009 Wyndham Championship.

Jason Day finished with a 65 to take solo fourth at 266, while three shots further back was Bill Lunde (66). Sharing sixth at 270 were Las Vegas native Scott Piercy (64) and Richard H. Lee (66).

Blake Adams (68) and Jason Bohn (70) tied for eighth at 271, while another stroke back were Nick Watney (69), Jimmy Walker (73) and Tim Herron (73).

John Daly, who shot a 63 Friday but ballooned to an 86 Saturday, closed with a 6-over 77 to finish in last place at 6-over 295, nine strokes more than the second-to-last player, Hunter Hamrick. Over 36 holes on the weekend Daly was 21-over par.
