New Director of Golf Hired for Streamsong Resort

KemperSports has announced the hiring of Scott Wilson as director of golf at the new Streamsong Resort in Polk County, Fla.

Wilson brings more than 30 years' experience in the golf industry to Streamsong Resort, specializing in sales, instruction and management. Prior to joining Streamsong, he was director of golf at Vellano Country Club in Chino Hills, Calif., a KemperSports-managed facility, where he designed and managed the entire golf operation prior to the club's grand opening in 2007. Wilson and his team were rewarded for their efforts as Vellano Country Club received Golf Inc. Magazine's "Development of the Year Award (Private Club)" for 2007.

"We are pleased to have Scott as the director of golf at Streamsong Resort," said Steve Skinner, chief executive officer for KemperSports. "Streamsong is going to be a top golf destination, and we believe Scott's experience and dedication to delivering an outstanding golf experience for our guests will be a great match."

Renowned golf course architectural firms Coore & Crenshaw Associates and the Tom Doak-led Renaissance Golf Design have created two distinct, yet intertwined, 18-hole layouts on formerly mined phosphate land. Both Streamsong Red (Coore & Crenshaw) and Streamsong Blue (Doak) are scheduled to open in December 2012. The clubhouse, featuring 12 guest rooms (designed to accommodate 16 guests); 4,500 square feet of meeting space, a steakhouse with private dining, lounge and golf shop, will also open in December.

"I am excited to continue my career with KemperSports at such a highly-anticipated new-property opening," said Wilson. "Both Streamsong Red and Streamsong Blue will provide an exciting and challenging test for all golfers, and I look forward to leading our staff to deliver the best possible guest experience."

KemperSports is responsible for management of golf operations at Streamsong Resort, while Interstate Hotels and Resorts has overall management responsibility, including a 200-plus room lodge, conference center and spa that will open on the property in late 2013.
