Norman to Play in Humana Challenge

Greg Norman has committed to play in the Humana Challenge in partnership with the Clinton Foundation. The PGA Tour event - the former Bob Hope Classic - will be held in California's Coachella Valley January 16-19.

The former No. 1-ranked player in the world and two-time British Open champion will play in the tournament for only the third time in his career.

"I played the Humana Challenge back in 2012 and I was really impressed with the new direction for the event," said the 20-time Tour winner. "It became very obvious that President Clinton's leadership and vision was going to re-energize this tournament back to its once iconic state. I am looking forward to coming back in 2014, and I consider it an honor to play and support President Clinton, his Foundation and the Humana Challenge."

Added Bob Marra, the executive director and CEO of the Humana Challenge: "We're extremely excited to have Greg Norman back in our field. His resume as one of the greatest golfers of all time speaks for itself, and we're thrilled that we can give our fans here in the Coachella Valley a rare opportunity to see him play in person."

Other players in the field include Keegan Bradley, Mark Brooks, Stewart Cink, Retief Goosen, Trevor Immelman, Zach Johnson, Justin Leonard, Mike Weir, Bill Haas, Brandt Snedeker, Rickie Fowler and Jimmy Walker. Brian Gay will return as the defending champion.

Featuring a 156-player field, the Humana Challenge will be played at the Arnold Palmer Private Course at PGA West (host course), the Jack Nicklaus Private Course at PGA West and La Quinta Country Club. Since 1960, Desert Classic Charities, the nonprofit entity that organizes the Humana Challenge, has donated more than $52 million to the Eisenhower Medical Center and numerous other nonprofit organizations in the Coachella Valley.
