Ogilvy Runs Away with Barracuda Championship

Beginning with a three-point lead entering the final round of the Barracuda Championship, Geoff Ogilvy left nothing to chance, closing with five birdies, an eagle and a bogey for 14 points and a 72-hole total of 49 at Montreux Golf and Country Club in Reno.

The 37-year-old Australian finished five points ahead of Justin Hicks, who racked up 10 birdies and two bogeys for Sunday's high total of 18 points in the Stableford format, in which a double-eagle is worth eight points, an eagle five, birdie two, par zero, bogey minus-one and double-bogeys and higher minus-three.

The victory for Adelaide native Ogilvy was his first since the 2010 SBS Championship. It was his eighth career title - including the 2006 U.S. Open.

His latest win was worth $540,000, 300 FedEx Cup points, and a spot in next week's PGA Championship at Valhalla in Louisville, Ky. Ogilvy was making his first appearance at Montreux since 2002 after not qualifying for the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone.

Tying for third with 37 points were John Huh and Jonathan Byrd, who each scored 11 points Sunday, while Scotland's Martin Laird (12) and Jason Allred (three) shared sixth at 35 points.

Tied for eighth at 34 were Tim Wilkinson (12), Kyle Stanley (12), Ricky Barnes (11) and Nick Watney (two).
