Oosthuizen Wins Another Volvo Golf Champions

Louis Oosthuizen closed with a 4-under 68 to win his second consecutive Volvo Golf Champions by a stroke. The 36-player European Tour event took place at Durban Golf Club in South Africa.

Oosthuizen finished at 12-under 276, ensuring the victory in his home country by making a two-foot birdie putt on the final hole to edge fellow South African Branden Grace, who also shot 68.

Oosthuizen carded an eagle on the par-5 eighth hole to kick-start his round, but two bogeys and four birdies - including two on the last two holes that overtook Grace - got him the narrow win.

"It was nerve-wracking there through the round but I knew once I turned on 14 I needed to make birdies and the birdie putt on the 15th felt crucial and I just missed it," Oosthuizen told reporters. "And then something about the 16th tee shot got me this week.

"But fortunately I finished strong and I'm just happy that I got it done. I think the home crowd was really spurring us along and I saw Branden up there and I knew he wasn't going away. I thought he was probably going to get it to 12, but he made bogey somewhere. But I think we just love playing in South Africa."

Finishing two strokes back were The Netherlands' Joost Luiten (71) and 54-hole leader, Tommy Fleetwood of England, who closed with a 72.

Three strokes back at 279 were Padraig Harrington (67), Raphael Jacquelin (69) and Victor Dubuisson (72).

The only American in the field, Peter Uihlein, had an up-and-down tournament, carding rounds of 70, 78, 70 and 78 to finish in 34th place.
