OSU Tops Preseason Men's College Golf Poll

For the second straight year, Oklahoma State sits atop Division I's preseason men's college poll. The Cowboys, runner-ups at last year's NCAA Championship to surprising Augusta State, earned eight of the 21 first-place votes. Four of the starters from last year's squad return including newly crowned U.S. Amateur champion Peter Uihlein and All-Americans Morgan Hoffmann and Kevin Tway. Oklahoma State will host the 2011 NCAA Championship, holding it on the school's home course, Karsten Creek, next spring.

Ranked second is Stanford, who will return four of five starters from a squad that qualified for match play at last year's NCAA Championship. Leading the way is David Chung, a junior who this summer won a pair of prestigious amateur titles (Porter Cup and Western Amateur) before finishing runner-up in the U.S. Amateur to Uihlein.

Rounding out the top-five are Augusta State (No. 3), Georgia (No. 4) and Oregon (No. 5).

Uihlein, a junior from Oklahoma State and reigning U.S. Amateur champion, is number one on Golf World's list of the "Top 50 Male Players to Watch." The rest of the top-10 includes: No. 2 Chung (Stanford, Jr.); No. 3 Russell Henley (Georgia, Sr.); No. 4 Scott Langley (defending NCAA champion - Illinois, Sr.); No. 5 Blayne Barber (Auburn, Soph.); No. 6 Eugene Wong (Oregon, Jr.); No. 7 Patrick Reed (Augusta State, Jr.); No. 8 Bud Cauley (Alabama, Jr.); No. 9 Jonathan Randolph (Mississippi, Sr.); No. 10 Dylan Frittelli (Texas, Jr.).
