Perry Rolls to Five-Shot Win on Champions Tour

Kenny Perry closed with a 2-under 70 to win the ACE Group Classic, his second win on the Champions Tour. The Kentuckian finished at 20-under 196, five shots ahead of defending champion Bernhard Langer, who also had a 70.

Perry, the 2011 rookie of the year on the over-50 circuit, separated himself from the field after opening with rounds of 64 and 62, the combination of which broke the 36-hole tournament record by four strokes. He finished just two shots short of the all-time Champions Tour record for 54 holes.

On Sunday, the 51-year-old from Kentucky carded four birdies and a pair of bogeys. After needing only 24 putts Saturday, Perry took 30 strokes on the short grass in the final round. The win, his second since his maiden victory in the SAS Championship last October, was worth $240,000.

Three players tied for third at 202. The group included a resurgent Bill Glasson (68), Mike Goodes (69) and Tom Lehman (72).

Lehman tipped his hat at Perry's effort. "He played very, very well," said Lehman, who was paired with Perry in the final round. "Two-under-par today is a very good score. He was pretty much error-free throughout the day. It was tough to get any pressure on him."

Jay Haas (69) took solo sixth, while first-round leader Larry Mize, who led after the first round with a 10-under 62, was tied for second on the last hole but triple-bogeyed the par-4 to fall into seventh at 204.
