Pettersen & Uribe atop LPGA Event


Suzann Pettersen and Mariajo Uribe carded rounds of 7-under 65 and 6-under 66, respectively, to share the 36-hole lead in the Manulife LPGA Classic. The LPGA Tour event in Canada got underway Thursday at Whistle Bear Golf Club in Cambridge, Ontario.

Pettersen, a 34-year-old Norwegian, carded seven birdies and no bogeys to tie 25-year-old Colombian Uribe, who had six birdies on the day in another flawless outing, at 13-under 131.

Cristie Kerr, who began Friday sharing the lead with Cheyenne Woods and Thailand's P.K. Kongkraphan following a course record-tying 9-under 63 that included 10 birdies and a bogey, posted a 69 to drop into solo third a stroke behind the co-leaders.

Woods was at 2-over as this story went to press, while Kongkraphan dropped down the leaderboard after a 75.

Taiwan's Yani Tseng (65), Belgium's Laetitia Beck (69) and South Korea's Hyo Joo Kim (67) are in a big group at 133 that also includes Americans Kim Kaufman (66) and Victoria Elizabeth (66).

Defending champion Inbee Park shot a 68 to get to 137.

The tentative cut was set at 4-under 140. No. 1-ranked Lydia Ko has posted rounds of 71 and 68 to qualify for the weekend by a stroke.
