Scott Overtakes Rose in Grand Slam of Golf

Masters' champion Adam fired the low round of the 36-hole PGA Grand Slam of Golf, a course-record-setting 7-under 64, to win the $1.35 million event that pits the previous season's major champions. The two-day tournament took place at Point Royal Golf Club in Bermuda.

Scott, who became the first Australian in the tournament's 77-year history to win the Masters in April, carded three birdies on the front nine to make the turn in 3-under 33. On the home half, the 33-year-old added two more birdies before an eagle on the par-5 17th for a back-nine 31 and a two-stroke victory over first-round leader Justin Rose.

Scott ended up at 8-under 134, while U.S. Open winner Rose, who opened with a 67, carded a 69 Wednesday to finish at 136. Third place went to PGA champion Jason Dufner (who shot a 70 for a 3-under 139 total), while defending Grand Slam of Golf champion Padraig Harrington - filling in for British Open winner Phil Mickelson - took fourth at 145 with rounds of 74 and 71.

"Obviously, I'm thrilled to come out on top," Scott said. "Fun - but a trying couple of days here, really, especially today. Standing on the 11th tee, didn't like a score like (64) was possible. But played very well and managed to slowly claw away at Justin."

"I started with a two-shot lead and somebody had to shoot well to beat me," Rose said. "When you're in that position you want to close it out. But when somebody finishes it out like that, you have to tip your hat and say you were beaten rather than losing. He was 4-under the last six, so that's a strong finish."

For setting a new course record, Scott was offered a Port Royal membership by Bermuda's Premier Craig Cannonier. "Do I get to keep it if someone beats (the record) next year?" Scott asked, eliciting laughter from the media.

In addition to the membership, he earned $600,000, with Rose receiving $300,000, Dufner $250,000 and Harrington $200,000.
