Swing by Swing Launches Digital Scorecard and Extended Stats Module for BlackBerry

June 29, 2010. Swing by Swing, the free golf GPS range finder, has launched its digital scorecard and extended stats module for BlackBerry. Already popular among iPhone users, the module gives golfers instant access to statistics, such as scoring averages, averages by par, putts comparison and more. Golfers can keep score for themselves and up to four players.

Users receive a free 14-day trial of the scorecard upon downloading and registering Swing by Swing on their BlackBerry or iPhone. (Look for Swing by Swing for Android in summer 2010.) Simply text the word "Golf" to 82257 or visit www.swingbyswing.com from your mobile browser to download.

More than 8,500 courses are in the Swing by Swing system, with hundreds more added daily. Users can view a satellite photo of the hole they are playing, including the green and any obstacles in their path, such as water hazards and sand traps. By touching the screen, a golfer can view precise distance to anything on the course.

"This app helped me finally break a 90," said Chad Zummach, an early adopter of Swing by Swing. "I've always wanted a GPS range finder, but I never wanted to drop the cash. And this works better than my friends' expensive devices."

"I love to golf, but I'm not getting calls to play in the Masters any time soon," said Eric Jeffrey of Chicago. "So why should I spend money on an expensive range finder when Swing by Swing works like any $500 device? I have instant access to stats like what PGA pros get, and the range finder works like a charm. It's like turning my phone into a secret weapon on the course."

"Who needs a $500 range finder?" said Travis Giggy, co-founder of Swing by Swing. "Our goal is to offer golfers easy-to-use technology which helps them improve their skills and have a better time on the course."

Keeping score with Swing by Swing is easy. Simply enter your score, golfers enter the total putts while on the green and click to indicate the direction of their drive off the tee box. With one click, users can view scores at any time and may advance through the round if needed. Golfers will also be able to save their scores, email them to friends and manage results through their My Account page.

Swing by Swing is designed with simplicity in mind, so it will not slow down play.

Golfers also have access to analytics and details of their own performance on the green. Stats are analyzed for the current round being played or compared to the average of the last 10 rounds. Users can track details of their progress including drive result comparison, greens in regulation comparison, scrambling average and more, giving players an idea of how they are progressing each time they play.
