Team Langer Wins PNC Father/Son Challenge

It's no surprise that Bernhard Langer has won another golf tournament this year on the Champions Tour. But this time the 57-year-old German, already a five-time winner, had some help.

On Sunday the World Golf Hall of Fame member was joined by his 14-year-old son Jason en route to winning the PNC Father/Son Challenge at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando.

The Langers combined for a 13-under 59 in the scramble format to finish at 23-under 121, two strokes ahead of Davis Love III and his son Dru, who also posted a 59.

Bernhard Langer had won the event with his daughter, Christina, in 2005 and '06, but she pulled out before the start this year because of back problems. But that was no issue for the Langers, as Jason became the event's youngest champion.

"When I saw him tee off on the first tee, when they announced his name and there are hundreds of people around, he just nailed it down the middle," Langer told reporters. "I knew we were going to be OK."

Langer added that the latest victory is just icing on a stellar cake for him in 2014. "It's been magical," said Champions Tour Player of the Year.

"Certainly one of my top three years in my career. At this age, to still be playing the golf I have been playing and winning two majors and five tournaments . . . I'm very blessed."

Vijay Singh and his son Qass, and the Stranges - father and son Tom - shared third at 20-under par.
