Thompson Gets Second LPGA Tour Title

Lexi Thompson closed with a 2-under 69 to win the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia. The $2 million event began Thursday at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club.

The 18-year-old Floridian posted four birdies and two bogeys to end up at 19-under 265, four strokes ahead of last week's winner, Shanshan Feng of China, who shot a 67. Thompson's victory was worth $300,000, while Feng settled for $188,577.

"Words can't even describe the feeling I have right now," said Thompson, whose first victory came in the 2011 Navistar LPGA Classic and began the final round in Malaysia with a three-shot lead.

"It's sort of like a rerun from Navistar, just having that feeling walking up to the 18th green, embracing the fans and just knowing you have the win under your belt.

"It's very big, I have worked so hard between this whole last year since Navistar, it pays off and means so much to me."

Ilhee Lee and Suzann Pettersen shot 70 and 73, respectively, to share third at 272, while two strokes further back was Amy Yang (66).
