Thompson Wins Lorena Ochoa Invitational

Thanks to a closing 3-under 69, Lexi Thompson picked up the third victory of her short LPGA Tour career, winning the $1 million Lorena Ochoa Invitational at Guadalajara Country Club.

The 18-year-old from Coral Springs, Fla., recorded four birdies and a bogey Sunday for a 16-under 272 total, one stroke ahead of fellow American Stacy Lewis, who had a 68. Thompson's latest win was worth $200,000.

Lewis could have tied Thompson and forced extra holes after Thompson made her five-foot birdie putt on the par-5 closing hole. But Lewis missed her five-footer to tie, took a par and settled for second.

So Yeon Ryu was third at 13-under a275 after a 69, while No. 1-ranked Inbee Park came in fourth at 11-under after a 69.

With her high finish this week, Park wrapped up the LPGA Tour's points-based Player of the Year award with one event left.

No. 2-ranked Suzann Pettersen carded a 70 to end up in fifth at 278 with Thailand's Pornanong Phatlum (71).
