Trump Buys Two More Courses in the Northeast

Donald Trump has bought two more golf courses. The New York City real-estate baron's latest acquisitions are in southern New Jersey and New York's Hudson Valley. Terms of the sales were not announced.

Trump Golf purchased the semiprivate Pine Hill Golf Club in Pine Hill, N.J., and daily-fee Branton Woods Golf Club in Hopewell Junction, N.Y. According to Dan Scavino, executive vice president Trump Golf division, Pine Hill will be renamed Trump National Golf Club-Philadelphia and Branton Woods will become known as Trump National Golf Club-Hudson Valley.

The 365-acre Pine Hill property offers views of the Philadelphia skyline. Nearby is the fabled Pine Valley Golf Club. Both Trump National Golf Club-Philadelphia and Trump National Golf Club-Hudson Valley will be converted into high-end private clubs.

The original Pine Hill was designed by Tom Fazio, while Branton Woods was crafted by architect Eric Bergstol. Bergstol's firm, Empire Golf, also developed and built the course.

"These two courses are each considered among the finest in the country and I am proud to add them to my growing list of clubs," Trump said in the statement. He added that the two acquisitions would have cost $45 million each to build and take years to get necessary approvals before construction could take place.

Trump Golf's holdings already included courses near Washington, D.C., Bedminster and Colts Neck, N.J., Westchester, N.Y., Los Angeles, and West Palm Beach, Fla., Puerto Rico, the Grenadines in the Caribbean, and the Dominican Republic. He's currently seeking permits to develop a 36-hole resort near Aberdeen, Scotland.
