Trump International Golf Club to Host '09 Puerto Rico Open

Trump International Golf Club & Residences Puerto Rico (TIPR) in Rio Grande will again host the Puerto Rico Open, an official PGA Tour event, March 9-15. With a backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean and the El Yunque Rainforest, the course enjoys a fine setting.

After undergoing $2.8 million in improvements, TIPR is the only golf course in Puerto Rico that meets the rigorous standards needed to host a PGA Tour event. "It is an honor to host the Puerto Rico Open for the second time," says Donald J. Trump, president and chairman of the Trump Organization. "My golf courses are known for being the best, and hosting the Open is proof of that. This event will be a tremendous success, and I look forward to welcoming the world's best players to Puerto Rico."

"We are very excited to be hosting the second Puerto Rico Open," said Eric Trump, Executive VP of Development and Acquisitions, who is actively involved in the project. "We know the PGA is very selective when choosing the courses for the tour and we feel privileged that they have selected our golf club for the tournament."

"The first tournament last March was so successful and we expect it to continue growing every year," said development partner Jorge L. Diaz of Empresas Diaz. In March 2008, TIPR hosted the first Puerto Rico Open exceeded estimates by drawing a gallery of 75,000. "We look forward to welcoming the PGA players as well as golf enthusiast and spectators who will attend in March."

TIPR features two 18-hole courses, Championship and International, both designed by PGA and Champions Tour veteran Tom Kite. Each layout provides a distinctive experience. Championship begins among lakes and winds to the ocean, while International runs through hills and weaves through green mangroves on its back nine.
