Two in a Row for Rory

Rory McIlroy has taken two of the three FedEx Cup events so far. After his victory in last week's Deutsche Bank Championship, the 23-year-old won the BMW Championship to take a commanding lead in the Playoffs. The win was worth $1.44 million.

The Northern Irishman closed with a 5-under 67 at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind., to finish at 20-under 268, two strokes ahead of Lee Westwood (69) and third-round co-leader Phil Mickelson, who shot a 70 Sunday.

"I'm just on a great run at the moment," said the world's top-ranked player, who now has six PGA Tour titles - including two majors - and four on the European Tour in his young career. "I'm playing well, I'm confident - just hope to keep it going."

Though McIlroy goes into the FedEx Cup's final event - the Tour Championship in two weeks at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta - as the overall points' leader, he's not guaranteed the title.

If any of the top-five players in points - McIlroy, Tiger Woods (No. 2), Nick Watney (3), Mickelson (4) and Brandt Snedeker (5) - wins the Tour Championship, he'll go home with the $10 million bonus.

Woods closed with a 68 to finish tied with Robert Garrigus (69) for fourth at 271, while another stroke back were Dustin Johnson and Adam Scott, who both shot 70s. Vijay Singh, who began Sunday tied for the lead with Mickelson, posted a 1-over 73 to end up at 15-under 273. Jim Furyk (68) took solo ninth at 274.

The top-30 players who qualify for the Tour Championship have been determined. The 1-over final round by Singh, who began the week ranked 49th in points, pushed him to 35th. Only two players who began the BMW Championship outside the top-30 - Garrigus and Ryan Moore (who closed with a 70 to end up tied for 10th at 275 with Bo Van Pelt - 71) at 275 - made it into the Tour Championship.

Garrigus came through down the stretch with four straight birdies on the 13th through 16th holes. "It's gratifying all the work has paid off," said the Nampa, Idaho, native. "I'm going to Atlanta and I'm very excited."

Moore, who grew up in Puyallup, Wash., also is thrilled to move on after finishing 28th in points. "There's a huge sigh of relief right now just to be done and to have earned my way back in."

Scott Piercy ended up in No. 30, while just missing out were Kyle Stanley and defending FedEx Cup champion Bill Haas, who finished 31st and 32nd, respectively. Haas shot 78 in the final round and lamented being unable to repeat. "Honestly, it seems like the same old story, something I've been doing a lot this year," said the 30-year-old.

"Under the gun haven't been able to get it done. It's something I've got to address and get better. When there's some pressure and there's a pressure situation I've got to be able to bear down and shoot a good number and not just blow up. I seem to do it often. It's frustrating. I don't know, I've got to take it as a building - something to build on. I don't know what else to say."
