Two Tied for Lead in Perth

New Zealand's Michael Hendry and Spain's Alejandro Canizares carded 7-under 65s to take a share of the first-round lead in the Perth International.

The $2 million event, co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour of Australasia and the European Tour, started Thursday at Lake Karrinyup Country Club in western Australia.

Hendry had eight birdies and an eagle, while Canizares posted four birdies on the front nine and three more on the back. Alone in third after a 66 is Argentine Emiliano Grillo.

Paul Casey, who's returned to competitive golf following a shoulder injury that sidelined him for much of the year, shot a 67 to share fourth of fellow Brit Andrew Johnston.

"Shoulder is great and body feels fantastic, and health is - I don't know if we are ever 100 percent but I feel like I'm 100 percent," Casey said Wednesday before the tournament.

"Been working extremely hard at the game and starting to play some nice golf. Dunhill, I did miss the cut and had the tougher side of the draw and played some nice golf. Last week I was in Korea and finished third there. Things are very much going in the right direction."

Two Americans in the field, Bo Van Pelt and Jason Dufner, carded a 70 and 71, respectively.
