Villegas Gets First Victory Since 2010

After opening with a 7-under 63 on Thursday, Camilo Villegas closed with the same score Sunday to win the $5.3 million Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.

The 32-year-old Colombian finished at 17-under 263, a stroke ahead of North Carolinian Bill Haas (64) and Sweden's Freddie Jacobson (66. The victory, worth $954,000, was the first for Villegas since the 2010 Honda Classic.

Villegas carded five birdies and an eagle on the par-5 fifth en route to earning the fourth title of his career.

Slocum and Jacobson could have forced extra holes. Slocum bogeyed the final two holes, while Jacobson three-putted the par-4 18th to fall short of a playoff with Villegas.

Finishing alone in fourth at 15-under 265 was Slocum (67), while three back were Brandt Snedeker (67), Webb Simpson (67) and Nick Watney.

Watney, a 33-year-old from Sacramento and the 54-hole leader by a stroke, closed with a 70.

Tied for eighth at 13-under were William McGirt (64), Jhonattan Vegas (66), Kevin Kisner (67) and Brad Fritsch (70).

Defending champion Patrick Reed recorded 67 and 66 over the weekend to rise into a share of 24th at 9-under 271.
