Walker Moves to 10th in World Rankings; Tiger Tumbles out of Top-100

Thanks to his victory in Sunday's Valero Texas Open, Jimmy Walker cracked the top-10 in the Official World Golf Rankings, which were released Monday. It's the first time the 36-year-old from San Antonio, who has two titles this year, has been ranked so high.

There wasn't much change in the positions of the nine players ahead of Walker. Despite taking the week off, Rory McIlroy remains No. 1 followed by Henrik Stenson, Bubba Watson, Jordan Spieth, Jason Day, Adam Scott, Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia and Jim Furyk.

Perhaps the biggest news about the latest OWGR is that Tiger Woods fell out of the top-100 for the first time since being No. 225 a month after he turned pro in 1996.

The latest rankings have the 14-time major winner at No. 104. That's a big fall from when Woods was No. 1 for 683 weeks, the all-time record.

Woods tried to return to the PGA Tour following back surgery in 2014, but he has been idle for much of the year. And when he has competed it's been a disaster. In late January he carded his worst round as a professional, an 82 at the Phoenix Open and missed the cut. He hasn't played since withdrawing after tweaking his back at the Farmers Insurance Open in early February.

Woods is "hopeful" he will return to tournament play at the Masters in two weeks. The 79-time Tour winner earned four green jackets at Augusta National between 1997 and 2005.

The 39-year-old Woods hasn't won a major since the 2008 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines, and his last Tour victory came at the 2013 Bridgestone Invitational.
