Walker Rolls to Victory in Sony Open

Jimmy Walker successfully defended his title in the Sony Open. The 36-year-old Texan fired a 63 at the par-70 Waialae Golf Club in Honolulu to finish at 23-under 257 in the $5.6 million PGA Tour event, nine strokes ahead Scott Piercy.

After losing to Patrick Reed in a playoff at last week's Hyundai Tournament of Champions, Walker left nothing to chance on Sunday.

Beginning the day with a two-stroke lead, he posted two birdies on the front nine and five more on the home half for the runaway victory.

Walker, who had three wins last year, recorded the fourth title of his career on the PGA Tour, earning $1.008 million and 500 FedEx Cup points.

Finishing 10 back in third were Harris English (67), Gary Woodland (67) and Matt Kuchar (71).

Another stroke down the leaderboard were Jerry Kelly (66), Brian Davis (67), Zac Blair (67), Rory Sabbatini (63), Max Homa (69), Shawn Stefani (68) and Justin Thomas (70).
